Understanding student emotional
health, one emoji at a time
Sown To Grow (STG), an Oakland, California-based provider of comprehensive social-emotional learning programs, is releasing a first-of-its-kind data set that shows, week by week, the self-reported emotional well-being of K-12 students nationwide throughout the pandemic.
This anonymized dataset was created using 1.9 million data points from emotional check-ins provided each week by a sampling of more than 140,000 students in Sown To Grow's partner schools across 40 states. The report highlights learnings from different phases of the pandemic based on what students were feeling and how educators responded.
